The first was a runt and chosen in pity. The second was dumped and pushed away. The third had the most difficult past of all. She was thrown from a car and left for dead. She found the Misfit Wolf Pack and now she is one of us. So is her newly born pup. Join us. Or leave us to be. We are one and we are free. Snakes and Shadows:Tree branches cast sleek shadows from the setting sun creating black masses like snakes all over the gravel road. Sometimes the shadows really are snakes, though. Who would have guessed? Am I a shadow or a snake? I’m just a passerby with too much experience with both. I stay on the go. I jog my pace and flaunt my flow. Everyone knows. They don’t wave anymore, like me, they just go. We’re all sick and tired of snakes and shadows. Cursed to Run:Running on gravel and dirt makes one’s bare feet hurtCursed to run. Sometimes it’s fun. It’s always refreshing to sweat under the sun. Run, run, run, until I come undone. Rain:When it rainsIt PoursWhen I’m downIt rains moreNo sunLots of warInternalTurmoilThe next dayIt might rainBut I’ll riseThrough my painThe rain leaves its markThe roads are mudMy gloomy heartBut I walkIn the waterI won’t fallI won’t falterI’m downBut not outThe rainwaterLeaves no doubt The Snail:I delivered himTo an irreversible fateLong overdueHe’s approaching that ageIt broke my heartTo lead him astrayUntil I saw the snailCrossing in my wayDistraction? Work and work, it’s all we know. For if we fail to work our lack will show. What’s to do but never sleep, never rest? Humans cannot rest until death. Misconceptions are such beliefs. We are only human and we much need sleep I Buried a Body:I buried a body and unearthed a boxDrenched in mud inside and outI sliced open the shellDumped out the pastRipped it upSent it to the trashThat’s not me anymoreThank the lordNevermoreI won’t go backTo that state of mindTo that life of mineCursed and despisedA different timeDarker daysNow I’m wiseNever the sameI’ve seen the lightI’ve seen the meaningI destroyed the plightNow I’m dreamingLoving day and nightNow I liveNow I fightNow I knowI am aliveA misguided soul six years agoMuch can change with timeTime passing is a heart healingTime passing is eyes seeing the truthTime passing is gaining wisdomTime is always on the moveAs is time, must so be the mindAlways moving, growing wiseNever die, soul of mineYou are indestructible You have survivedWho I was is always kindWho I am is still divineThe universe so far and wideThere’s no place for wasted timeA buried boxA buried life An unhealthy wayThat had to dieI was lostI’m always lostLost is lifeLost is rightNow I know the truthThe search is ongoingBut I’ve learned my coreThe knowledge is pouringValues will persistThe basics are stoneMy heart can resistThe lies that showThe girl who buried this boxShe needed a guide I’m so very relieved I found my tribeSome came and wentOthers still hereAll were years well spentThrough blood and tearsThis box reminds meOf what I left behindI’m never going backI’ve found new lifeThere will be no burningNo ceremonyNothing significant about this old wayI’ve made peace I’ve moved onI still struggleBut I have won That war is historySo very long agoNo pyres necessaryNo burying of bonesJust thrown in the trash Where other forgotten stuff goesOh little twentyA lifetime agoIf only you knewHow awesome you’d growI buried a body and threw out the pastI paid no mind to that ancient trash Subscribe for a FREE copy of Self Exploration Field Notes: Join my email list By clicking submit, you agree to share your email address with the site owner and Mailchimp to receive marketing, updates, and other emails from the site owner.
