Winter Solstice

The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year – or the longest night. It’s not something I’ve ever celebrated. I’m a child of summer and dread the upcoming winters. However, this year I wanted to respect the cycle of our planet regardless of my dislike of the cold weather.

The winter solstice marks the beginning of the winter season. The winter season, to me, represents hardships and mountains to climb. It is an obstacle to push through in order to make it to the sunny, warmer days of spring and summer.

So for words to help me survive the winter I turn to Ned Stark and the crow of Bran Stark’s dreams”

There are different kinds of wings…every flight begins with a fall…Choose. Fly or die.

The Crow (A Game of Thrones)

You have a wildness in you, child. ‘The wolf blood.’

Ned Stark (A Game of Thrones)

Happy Winter Solstice. Remember the wise words that will pave the path and steel yourself.

“Winter is coming.”
